Undergraduate student working as a freelance 3D Generalist.
I will be doing VFX related work on a TBA feature film.
For one week, I worked at Industrial Light & Magic's London Studio. During my time there, I got to learn from artists across all departments, learn what it's like to work for Disney, be introduced to their VFX pipeline and see their work on "STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER" and "THE MANDALORIAN".
Contracted by Monster Energy Corp, I was tasked with creating a corporate sales ad pitch to be used by the company to present to their shareholders of the company's growth.
I was given one week to create the ad, and was responsible for all aspects of production except for compositing.
From October - December 2018, I worked as a 3D Artist for Episode 1 of Vader: Shards of The Past.
On this project I used Autodesk Maya, Photoshop, After Effects, ZBrush, and Substance Painter to complete an array of tasks for the project.
Working on the web series was a huge insight into learning what it's like to work freelance since I was working from home. I also learned how a remote VFX pipeline functions, and the hierarchy of a production due to the communication I had to maintain between CG Supervisors and the Director.
This was my first paid VFX Job, as well as gaining my first IMDb credit for my work.
In June I completed a week-long work placement at Axis Animation in Glasgow. I learnt a lot from the artists at the studio, including how their VFX production pipeline works. In addition, I carried out studio tasks whilst working on my professional online presence.
In February 2018, I participated in a BFI Film Academy Residential specialising in VFX in London. I was able to learn so much from masterclass guest speakers from Framestore and the Jim Henson Company. The tutors that supported us throughout the week helped us make short films which were screened to an audience of 100+ industry figures.

In October 2017, I was a successful applicant of the BFI Film Academy Highlands & Islands - a nine-day residential for young students interested in pursuing a career in the film industry. During this time, I directed and edited my first short film with the help of the course tutors. The film screened at a Local Arts House Cinema, and later last year at FANS Youth Film Festival in Glasgow.
